HALO: Outpost Discovery is a 125,000 square foot traveling exhibition based on the popular HALO video game franchise. The HALO: Outpost Discovery experience is comprised of three elements: the themed and immersive Outpost Discovery area, a specialty Marketplace, and dynamic Special Events area that delivers guests a “behind the curtain” look at the professional artists/developers and ardent fans that shape the world of HALO. Outpost Discovery invites guests to step away from their game consoles and walk into the living world of HALO.
Outpost Discovery is a mobile recruitment and training platform for the United Nations Space Commend (UNSC), the organization that protects and nurtures the humanity of the distant future. The Outpost exhibition is comprised of a UNSC orientation area, The Hall of History and a series of training experiences designed to unite and challenge fans of all ages.
The event is free-flowing, allowing guests to choose the adventure that is right for them. At The Ring, a dome projected media experience, guests get an up close tour of a HALO Ring – a vast, world-sized artifact left by a now-extinct alien race – for which the franchise is named.
All of the training experiences are immersive and hands-on, allowing guests to become an active part of HALO. Guests can explore a salvaged section of an alien Covenant spaceship, in an escape-room type adventure: Covent Escape. They can also collaboratively help pilot a damaged space transport in the simulated Pelican Training experience. Guest can engage in a red team versus blue team Virtual Reality (VR) training experience with alien weapons in the Training Grounds exercise. For real world teaming, guests can visit the Combat Deck, a UNSC training environment that places game-accurate Laser Tag equipment in the hands of guests. For a less visceral experience, and one tailored for younger guests, a visit to the Target Range allows for proficiency training with foam-dart blasters and interactive screens.
